Dry, Flakey scalp…you know what I’m talkin’ about?! 🙆🏼 It’s showing up more often lately and people just don’t know what to do about it. No need to be embarrassed but please take the time to see what’s happening with your body. Now I’m no doctor but I hear a few things through the days…if you’re having severe issues with dry, flaky scalp please go see a doctor or naturopath first! Second, if you are looking for a medicated shampoo I usually recommend a dose of head and shoulders, then reassess. A dose to me is one round through of a regular sized bottle until done. Do not continue to use medicated shampoo for life. If your dry, flaky scalp persists then there is probably a deeper issue at hand. DO NOT use coconut oil or any kind of deep conditioning directly on the scalp. There are specific scalp treatments out there but again, if you use these products, use them for one cycle then assess. Lastly…I think you know what I’m going to say…check your diet!! Intolerances show up on your hair, skin, and nails…scalp is skin! Dairy and gluten are main intolerances, sometimes eggs. Take a break from these foods and add them in one by one to really see what may be affecting you. All in the name of good health…and great hair! See you in the salon soon.

Dry Shampoo! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Pro Tip: use your dry shampoo before bed on dry hair the day you shampoo. This prevents grease from forming on the roots and prolongs that fresh hair feeling. Kids deserve an EPIC experience too! 🎉 Kids have a mind of their own as they grow up and even though we try to fight it we all know it’s going to happen…and I do believe that if we give a little when they are young they are less likely to go crazy with their hair as they get older. 😉 (except if they play hockey…those kids do CraZy things during tournaments 😁) Some fun ways to let them show their personal style… 🌈 using clip in extensions when they want fun colors added. Lightening their actual hair when they are a little older. 🌈 letting them cut their hair when all their friends do (or growing in out for those boys-it’s just a phase don’t worry). Sounds weird but it’s their first time they get to make their own big decision about their hair. 🌈 buying them their own special brush and detangling spray so they will feel confident doing this big kid job on their own. What is that Green Circle Salon Fee and where does that money go? 🤔 At Süco’s we have made the choice to recycle as much as we can in the salon to do our part in making our world a more sustainable environment. What a fabulous idea, I know…but what exactly am I paying for? Where do these items go? Let’s break it down. 👇🏼 ♻️ All Hair Clippings from haircuts are composted with other organic waste or turned into bio-composit plactic to make new products like recycling bins. ♻️ Foils, color tubes, and aerosol containers are sorted, melted down into metal bars, and used to make new products like car parts or bicycles! 😮 ♻️ Cotton, gloves, and wax strips are used in a waste-to-energy process to create clean renewable energy. Any left over ash can be used as a filler in asphalt. ♻️ PPE supplies are turned into clean, renewable energy to power our homes and businesses. The left over ash can also be used to make a filler in asphalt and brick! ♻️ All our Paper Products are taken into our local recycle plant just across the way from us. ♻️ Plastics are sorted, cleaned, ground into small pieces, and used to make new products like shampoo bottles. Our product line Evo uses sources like these to create their plastic bottles as well…so cool! So if you didn’t know, now you know! Using coconut oil on your hair is not always a great idea. 🥥 🙅🏽‍♀️ So, I wanted to create a post regarding the use of coconut oil on your hair. Through the years a lot of my guests have mentioned using coconut oil as a universal product for all things hair. But I want to make something clear. Coconut oil should NOT be use as… 🚫 A conditioning treatment 🚫A smoothing oil 🚫 A leave in moisturizer 🚫 A conditioner 🚫 All the things… Have a think…coconut oil cooks at high heats. If you use coconut oil as a treatment and a day or two later blow dry and flatiron your hair there is still residue left over. You are essentially cooking your hair. 🙊 …if you use coconut oil as a conditioner and you go up the mountain, or out in the cold at all, your hair gets cold or freezes and coconut oil hardens. This creates a build up on your hair creating a dull finish. Now don’t get me wrong. I googled this shit and google says that coconut oil IS ok for some hair types. And I know some of you use coconut oil and swear by it and that’s ok…keep doin’ you if it’s working. But what you need to realize is that if you are using coconut oil in your hair and the issue you are attempting to resolve is NOT resolving, you NEED to make a new game plan. You NEED to use products/treatments that are specially formulated for your hair. This is where your stylist comes in. We have tons of options that we can recommend. We can create an exact cocktail specifically for your hair type and your hair needs.
